Puttur: Theft of cash, gold from house during day

Puttur, Feb 17: Thieves entered a house at Karaya, Uppinangady near here during the day on Monday February 16, and took away Rs 52,000 in cash and a pair of ear lobes made of gold.

The theft occurred at the house of a person named Muhammed, a dealer in areca nut, having his business at Uppinangady. At the time of theft, Muhammed and his family members were away attending a marriage ceremony.

On their return late afternoon, the members of the family found that the front and rear doors of the house were wide open, doors of cupboards and almirahs were open, and things were strewn around the house. They found that Rs 52,000 kept in the almirah, and a pair of ear lobes had gone missing.

A complaint about the theft was filed in Uppinangady station.
