Karkala, Feb 19: On Tuesday February 17 evening, a boy drowned in a canal at Hebri. He has been identified as Sudarshan (13), son of Sundari from Kabbinale near Hebri.
It is learnt that he was bathing in the canal at Chimpugundi near his home along with his brother. Accidentally he drowned, it is said. He did not know how to swim.
The people in the neighbourhood rushed to his rescue immediately, but the boy was declared brought dead at the hospital. A report relating to the incident was registered in Hebri police station.
