Mangalore, Jan 22: ‘A piece of art is an eye opener for the realities of the world’, said Dr CV Raghuveer, dean of Kasturba Medical College.

He was speaking after the inauguration of “Excavation”, a week-long exhibition of paintings by Anand Bedrala at Orchid Art Gallery here recently.

An artist or a litterateur is a mirror to the societal problems and involving oneself with art or music helps to relieve his/her stress and anxiety, he said further.

N S Pattar of the Mahalhasa School of Art who spoke on Bedrala’s works said “in Western School of Thought art is form of human expression and in Indian School of Thought art is nothing but divine expressed through human faculties.”

Earlier William Pais, the promoter of Orchid Art Gallery said that the purpose of the gallery is to provide platform to the artists of Mangalore and requested the artist- community to make good use of it.

The painting exhibition will be on Saturday January 27 at Orchid Art Gallery at Kadri Tollgate here.
