Shimla, Feb 21 (IANS): Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh Saturday expressed his commitment to preserve the dying art of Guler- a style of hill art.

"Guler is famous for its paintings and grandeur but it's pathetic that such paintings are now nowhere visible," he said while addressing a public gathering at Haripur Guler in Kangra district.

"Anyone having enough paintings of the Guler school of art, preserved with them, may come forward so that a small museum can be constructed here," he said.

"If the students of the area want to revive the traditions of such paintings,it would surely be done on the basis 'guru shishya parampra' or teacher-disciple tradition. Haripur Guler was the ancient heritage of the state and should be promoted along with preserving its traditional architecture and culture," he said.

The chief minister earlier inaugurated Chander Dhar Guleri Government Degree College at Haripur Guler.
