Bengaluru, Feb 27: In a major setback to the Karnataka Government and all pro-Kannada votaries, the State High Court on Friday directed the State Government to grant permission to all existing English medium schools in the State.

The High Court also directed the Government to decide on applications filed by the schools seeking permission to start new English-medium schools by March 31.

The High Court judge Justice B V Nagarathna, who heard the petition filed by the Associated Managements of Government Recognised English Medium Schools in Karnataka (KAMS), had asked the State Government on Wednesday on why it could not follow the Supreme Court’s verdict in the language policy and why it could not allow English medium schools from Stadards I to V.
