Bantwal: Water tanker falls into standing water, no one injured

Bantwal, Mar 1: A water tanker tumbled into standing water of the river by the roadside at Perla Beeyapade in Sarapady on Saturday February 28. Luckily, driver of the tanker escaped unhurt in the incident.

AMR Company has built a dam at Shambhur across River Netravati for generating hydro electric power. Agricultural fields and plantations of farmers lining the river from Ajilamogaru within Sarapady gram panchayat limits to the dam have been inundated under the standing water of the dam. The locals had protested a number of times against this problem, and in spite of their repeated demands, the company had failed to build any protective wall to save their fields and plantations.

The road here is also narrow. Vehicles, and students who go to schools by bicycles and by foot, face a risky situation as deep water stands by the side of this narrow path. The people blame AMR Company as being responsible for this situation.
