Chennai, Oct 18: Actor Suriya has urged students to spend less time watching Instagram Reels and instead explore podcasts and online research to gain deeper knowledge, while addressing the 47th anniversary celebration of his father and veteran actor Sivakumar's Sivakumar Educational Trust.

Sharing life lessons with students at the event, Suriya highlighted the limitations of consuming short-form content and encouraged them to learn from the experiences of successful personalities.

“If you keep watching Reels, you are only watching a story. You may not learn anything from it,” Suriya said.

He advised students to watch long-form podcasts featuring successful individuals and learn about their journeys, experiences and challenges. He also encouraged them to conduct extensive online research on subjects that interest them rather than settling for superficial information.

Suriya's message emphasised the importance of meaningful learning, curiosity and making productive use of time in the digital age.
