Mangaluru, Mar 3: Health and family welfare minister U T Khader said that Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru will become a full fledged Dialysis centre with 12 beds soon.

He visited Wenlock Hospital on Tuesday, March 3 and inspected the work of the dialysis centre. He said that the centre will be a model in the state. A ventilator has already been installed and beds are brought in. The remaining components will arrive soon, he informed.

“The dialysis centre will be prepared in the most modern way. A minimum of four hours will be required for the dialysis of a patient. TVs will be installed in the centre and programmes related to health will be broadcasted in it. Our aim is that patients should receive treatment with a smile. A rest room is being constructed next to the unit for those who accompany the patients”, he said.

“Karnataka Bank has donated Rs 15 lacs for the dialysis centre. The dialysis centre will be equipped with modern facilities and funds from other sources will be utilized for the up-gradation of the centre”, he further informed.

Generic Medicine Centre:

“A Generic medicine centre will be established in the hospital so that the patients get medicines at a cheaper rate. It will be started on Railway station road near the entrance to the hospital. The building is being constructed. Besides Wenlock, patients from other private hospitals also can buy medicines at cheaper rates”, said the minister.

Dr Rajeshwari Devi, medical superintendant of Wenlock Hospital was present.
