Beltangady, Feb 2: The fifth day of Mahamastakabhisheka on Thursday February 1 began with the procession wherein the 'Agrodhaka Kalash' was brought from Beedu.

The highlight of the ceremony was the 'Bimba' procession in which the statue of Parshwanaatha was taken to Ratnagiri.

The statue of Bahubali was anointed with 504 kalashas (pots) followed by 'Mahamajjan' (grand bath) which began at 10.45 am at Ratnagiri. Dharmasthala dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade and Hemavati Heggade anointed the statue with 'Prathama Ratna Jalabhisheka' followed by anointment with 11 different items like tender coconut, sugarcane juice, milk, turmeric, flowers etc.

The dance programme by Shobhana Pillai was held in Neelanjana Hall, in Dharmasthala in the cultural programmes held as part of the Mahamasthakabhisheka.

Pillai with her team (Vidya, Manasa, Anitha, Shilaja, Archana, Chitra, Rachitha and Akshatha) gave an excellent performance here on Thursday evening with different concepts.

The dance with the theme anti dowry and a ‘fusion bharathanatyam with Caribbean music stole the show.  There was a loud applause when dance began to the tune music of A R Rahman’s 'Vande Matharam'.
 
On the same evening the 'Mayura Nritya' (Peacock Dance) and 'Charkul's Dance' was performed by the dancers of Uttar Pradesh which took the gathering into a different world.

Popular singers Y K Muddhukrisha, Chandrika Gururaj, Kikkeri Krushnamurthy, Rameshchandra, Premalatha Diwakar and Archana Udupa.

Bhajans of Bahubali were sung on the occasion by Sudheer Jain and his team from Madhya Pradesh. The ceremonies ended with the recital of 'Shanti Mantra.'
