Udupi: AIGDSU demands regularizaton of service

Udupi, March 10: The members of the All India Gramin Dak Sevaks Union (AIGDSU) staged a protest demanding regularization of their services. The protest was held on Tuesday, March 10 in front of the city's head office .








Basava Billava, president of AIGDSU- Udupi division said, Gramin Dak Sevaks have been rendering valuable services to rural area, but they are getting low wage for their sincere work. They are denied pension, promotion, medical facility. The workers are paid only 0.50 paisa as incentive (per account) for additional work.

In addition that, he said workers are interested in working 8 hours a day, but there is no such provision under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act. He says that, permanent workers enjoy all governmental benefits but this is not so with GDS.

The AIGDSU submitted a copy of the memorandum to prime minister Narendra Modi and urged him to intervene in appointing a judiciary committee to examine the pay scale and service conditions of Gramin Dak Sevaks.

AIGDSU Krishna District Unit president, Santhosh Madhyastha, secretary, Ramanth, treasurer and others participated in the protest.
