Dharwad: Woman kills children, commits suicide

Dharwad, Mar 11: In an incident which occurred late night on Monday March 9, a woman from the city ended her life after killing both her children. Reportedly, she was fed up by the mental torture she suffered at the hands of her husband.

Geeta Madivalappa Hadapad (32), a resident of Mailaralinga Nagar on Kalaghatagi Road here murdered son, Manohar (5), and daughter, Megha (7), before ending her own life.

Madivalappa Hadapad, who was not at home when his family perished, came home at 1.45 am on Tuesday but his repeated knocks at the door went unanswered. He then peeped into the house through the rear side window, and realized that he had lost his wife and children. He then passed on information to the police.

The policemen of Vidyagiri station in the city where a case was registered, said that preliminary investigation has suggested that mental harassment meted our by Madivalappa had pushed Geeta to take this extreme step.

Madivalappa from Garaga village in the district had married Geeta from Kadakola near Lakshmeshwar about 14 years ago. Madivalappa is employed as an attender in Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Engineering College here, it is learnt.

Police investigation is continuing.
