Udupi, Mar 11: The members of the Udupi District Block Congress Committee staged a protest on Wednesday March 11 near Clock Tower, Udupi, against the release of separatist leader Masrat Alam who had been detained for four-and-a-half years.

Janardhan Bhandarkar, Congress leader, said, “The newly formed PDP-BJP alliance government is asserting its power in Jammu and Kashmir. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amith Shah are following a dual policy at the Centre.”

Kishan Hegde Kolke Bailu condemned the release of Alam within days of BJP governance; it shows that the government has no morality to justify their power. He questioned as to why we are agreeing with the wrongs done by the BJP government?

Another Congress leader Amrith Shenoy said, “Shobha Karandlaje does not respond to corruption and terrorist activities in the nation. No developmental process has been seen in the nation. Modi only speaks of development, but there is no implementation. Modi’s speeches are not true while in the matter of keeping national unity.

He added that no organization is objecting to Masrat’s release after almost five years of imprisonment. He alleged that the Prime Minister was monitoring Jammu and Kashmir state by using all his political power. He questioned why all BJP members had kept quite instead of shouting against such acts.

Udupi District Block Congress Committee members like Yuvaraj, CMC president Selina Karkada, Shabil Ahmed, Harish Kini, Baskar Rao Kediyur, Vikas Shetty, and other CMC Congress councilors were present.
