Raichur: IT officials raid MLA's residence, recover Rs 2 crore in cash

Raichur, Mar 13: Income tax officials raided the house of Lingasugur MLA, Manappa Vajjal, and found two crore rupees in cash and gold ornaments. The officials continued to verify documents at the residence of Vajjal since Wednesday evening till Thursday morning.

The MLA was in Bengaluru during the raid. His brother, Nagappa Vajjal, was at home.

It is said that the officials, in addition to taking into possession cash and gold, also checked a number of documents.

Nagappa Vajjal said that the officials sought to know details of transactions totalling to Rs 1.8 transacted through cash in the MLA's bank account. He said that the officials have given a week's time to comply with this requirement.
