M'luru lad bags prestigious John Lennon Scholarship

Mangaluru, March 13: Nisthula Anatole Murphy, a student of AAT Media College, pursuing his diplomain sound engineering has been selected for the prestigious John Lennon Scholarship.

With this, Nisthula, an 18-year-old youth who holds Irish passport and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) card becomes the first Indian- Irish to bag this award, which has been instituted in the name of Beatles' legendary founder and peace-activist musician John Lennon, by the legend’s family trust (his Japanese wife Yoko Ono) in collaboration with world-wide famous institute SAE of Australian origin. With the scholarship Nisthula has obtained admission to SAE Liverpool UK to continue his B Sc honors degree in sound/audio engineering.

After completing his early education in Sacred Hearts Kulshekar, Mangalore, Little Rock Brahmavar and GEMS Abu Dhabi, Nisthula went on to finish his tenth standard on Cambridge Board and diploma on International Bachelorette from Symbiosis International School, Pune.

Also, he is the recipient of the cyber-genius award at Pune district level and national cyber Olympiad when he was just 12-years-old.

With Nisthula showing strong inclination towards rare pursuit that brought together technology, creativity and fine arts, the scholarship only comes as a boost for the young lad to excel better in his chosen field.

Even as he is pursuing his education, Nisthula is working as an official partner in SLIPDISC, a venture of Zaheer Darbar of Bollywood, August 2013- July 2014 and is assisting musician Shashwat Sachdev in his studio in Mumbai since August 2014.

Nisthula has a bright legacy too. His mother, Dr Shashikala Shetty Gurupur, who hails from the prestigious Golidadi Guthu family of Gurupur is the Dean of Symbiosis Law School, Pune. She is also a Fulbright Scholar and national merit holder and was the member of National Law Commission. His father Professor Timothy Murphy is an Irish national and is presently teaching at Uttar Malaysia University's Law School in Kedah.

He is a globally renowned jurist and an internationally acclaimed debater as well.

Nisthula’s maternal grandparents are Late Karaamogaru Padmanabha Shetty and Saarya Umavati Shetty.
