Kabul, March 14 (IANS): Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani left here on Saturday for a two-day official visit to Saudi Arabia, the Presidential Palace said.
The Afghan leader will meet Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud besides holding meetings with other Saudi officials, Xinhua news agency reported citing a statement issued by the palace.
The president is accompanied by Mohammad Anif Atmar, national security advisor, Mohammad Khan, first deputy to chief executive officer, Ajmal Obaid Abidi, presidential spokesman, and Mohammad Masoom Stanikzai, head of High Peace Council's Secretariat, among others, the statement noted.
The trip came after a number of recent reports over the start of peace negotiations between the government and Taliban members.
