New Delhi, March 16 (IANS): As a part of the ongoing St Art Delhi festival, Polish artist Olek has used crochet to cover a night shelter with many hues of thread and yarn.

Crotchet is a handicraft in which yarn is made up into a textured fabric by means of a hooked needle.

The project titled "You must believe that you have received" aims to bring attention to temporary night shelters that have been set up throughout the national capital.

Olek has been working with a group of women and volunteers in south Delhi, where she instructed them how to weave several metres of fabric together to create an art work for a 40-feet-long and 8-foot-high night shelter at Sarai Kale Khan.

The art work will be unveiled on Tuesday.

According to the organisers, around 90km of fabric was required to cover the shelter.

Some of the fabric was supplied by designers like Tarun Tahiliani and Manish Arora.

"Through this project, we aim to draw the attention of the whole city towards this positive initiative (of night shelters), while working with women from different walks of life to bring this project to life," said Akshat Nauriyal, content director of St Art Delhi.

Olek's love for bright colours is not unknown. As for her previous assignments, she had covered the "Charging Bull" statue on Wall Street with a crocheted suit.
