Udupi: Man who stole motor bike from Kota held

Udupi, Mar 27: A person who had stolen a motor bike belonging to Umesh Poojary from Saligrama in the district on June 22 last year has been arrested. The motor bike in question, which was parked near Kota bus stand, had been stolen, and the thief was using it by changing its registration number.

Yashvant alias Yashu (19), a resident of Vamanjoor Pachchanady, stands arrested for this theft. Kadri policemen had taken into custody the motor bike which he was running with fake number plate sometime back. As per the court order, the bike was thereafter handed over to policemen from Kota, who in turn, entrusted it to the original owner.

The accused had succeeded fleeing when the bike was seized. Brahmavar police circle inspector, Arun B Nayak, Kota police sub-inspector,Kamalakar R Naik, and staff of criminal intelligence wing in a joint operation, arrested the accused on March 26 and produced him in court.

The accused has been remanded to judicial custody.
