New Delhi, Feb 23: In a move that assumes significance post-Nithari, the Women and Child Development Ministry has decided to launch a website for missing children.

Addressing the consultative committee attached to her Ministry, Women and Child Development Minister Renuka Chowdhury said her Ministry had proposed an integrated child protection scheme to address the issue of ensuring safety of children. All existing child protection schemes would be brought under one umbrella under the integrated scheme.

She said child protection units and adoption coordinating agencies would be set up in all states under the scheme. All districts in the country would have juvenile justice boards, child welfare committees and special juvenile police for ensuring effective service delivery structure under the scheme.

The members were informed that the government would set up an institutionalized mechanism to monitor quality care at shelter homes and emergency outreach services for children in difficult circumstances.
