Mangalore, Feb 26: Corruption cannot be eradicated but it can be contained, said Lokayukta Justice Santhosh Hegde
He was speaking after inaugurating a seminar on Prevention of Corruption Act 1989 in the Mangalore University on Monday, February 26.
Corruption grew with civilization and its prevention lies in the hands of the prosecuting agency that brings corrupt officials to public.
In this drive against curbing corruption, the youth have a vital role. The younger generation must be educated in such a way that they do not become a party in corruption, said Hegde.
Value education, he said, must be a parted through schools and universities. Elaborating on the Prevention of Corruption Act 1989, Hegde said that it was upgraded timely to keep pace with the growing corruption.
Advocate M V Shankar Bhat presented a paper about the Act. Mangalore University vice-chancellor Prof K M Kaveriappa, Registrar Sundar Naik and district principal sessions court judge H M Bharatesh were present were present on the occasion.
