Kejriwal bribery remark case to be heard on July 21

New Delhi, April 9 (IANS): A court here on Thursday fixed July 21 for recording pre-summoning evidence on a criminal complaint against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for allegedly asking voters to take bribes from other parties but vote for his AAP.

Metropolitan Magistrate Richa Gusain Solanki listed the matter for July 21 for recording of pre-summoning evidence in the case.

Arun Kumar, lawyer at the Tis Hazari courts, accused Kejriwal of abetting bribery by asking voters to take bribes from the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party but to vote for the Aam Aadmi Party.

The lawyer will bring material on record in support of his allegations during the pre-summoning evidence.

After that, the court will decide whether prima facie offence is made out against Kejriwal for summoning him.

The lawyer contended that Kejriwal, despite knowing that bribery was a crime, instigated voters to take money.

He said Kejriwal made the statement at a public rally on January 18 at Uttam Nagar and then again on January 22 at Krishna Nagar.

The Election Commission had issued three notices to Kejriwal, asking him to desist from making such comments.
