Puttur: Ganja trafficking – accused remanded to judicial custody

Puttur, Apr 14: Police sub-inspector of the town station here, Abdul Khader, accompanied by some staff from his station, succeeded in arresting Arif Muhammed from Alike, who was waiting to sell ganja to prospective customers. Muhammed, it is learnt, was waiting in front of a shop in Kabaka, with 18 sachets containing ganja on Monday. The arrest was made on the basis of reliable information.

The police said that 68 grams of ganja was seized from the possession of the accused. The policemen, who conducted inquest after producing the accused in the presence of the taluk tahsildar, Kulle Gowda, registered case against Arif. The operation was guided by town police inspector, B K Manjaiah.

On being produced in the local court, the arrested accused was remanded to 15 days judicial custody.

It may be recalled that among three persons arrested last week from Mangaluru, one was a student of a college here. The policemen, who had got some leads relating to ganja trafficking kept an eye on the movements of Arif and arrested him when he was trying to sell ganja.
