Bengaluru, Apr 14: For the first time, a senior Congress leader and former Union Minister M V Rajashekharan has openly voiced the demand that KPCC Chief Dr G Parameshwara must be made a Deputy Chief Minister in the Siddaramaiah ministry.

“Dr Parameshwara is a staunch Congressman and has selflessly served the party,’’ Rajashekharan said pointing out that if the Congress party has come to power in Karnataka, it was because of the contribution and work of Dr Parameshwara.

The former union minister, who belongs to the politically dominant Lingayat community and is a son-in-law of the veteran Congressman S Nijalingappa, said Dr Paramashwara must be rewarded for his dedicated service to the party.

Speaking at the Ambedkar jayanti organised by the KPCC, the senior Congress leader showered praises on Dr Parameshwara and said the KPCC chief was doing a fantastic job.

“But for his contribution, the party would not have come to power. It has to remember this. He should be made deputy Chief Minister," he insisted.

He recalled that S M Krishna was made deputy Chief Minister in the early nineties and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah too had occupied the post twice.
