M'luru: Football assn to host 7 A Tournament, blood donation camp

Mangaluru, Apr 16: Football players association Mangaluru will host 7 A Side Football Flood Lights Tournament at Nehru Maidan in the city from April 19 to 28. This was revealed by D M Aslam chief organizer of the event.

                            

He was addressing a press meet at the press club here on April 16.

D M Aslam said, " The event will kick off on April 19 with a blood donation camp. On the same day under 19, 7 A side football matches will be held and and club level 7 A side football tournament  after 6 pm. As part of the 'Sports Festival 2015' an under arm cricket tournament on April 20 and on April 21 will be organized. There will be a friendly cricket match between the press club Mangaluru and press club Udupi. Both the teams had won the second and third position in the recent state level tournaments. An over arm cricket tournament will be conducted on April 25 and 26 and on April 28 will be the prize distribution ceremony."

"The association has been organzing the event since many years. This year the sole purpose of the event is to create awareness among the youth about blood donation and to raise awareness about the dangers of addiction to alcohol and smoking. We have estimated a cost of Rs 10 lac and we need donors to lend a helping hand towards this good cause. On April 19 more than 1000 people will particiapte in the blood donation camp. This year blood will be donated to Wenlock and Lady Goschen Hospitals. Sports people and fans are requested to come and donate blood and save lives."

"The mayor Jacintha Vijaya Alfred will inaugurate the event. U T Khader minister for Health and Family Welfare, MLA J R Lobo, K S M Masood chief whip government of Karnataka and others will be present at the inaugural function."
