Udupi, Apr 17: The office bearers of Udupi district JDS party have opined that the resignation of Deviprasad Shetty for the post of president on Thursday has hurt them a lot. They have demanded that state leaders should persuade Deviprasad Shetty to withdraw the resignation. If this is not done, they have said that they will resign en masse.

This was decided in an emergency meeting held on Friday April 17, presided over by executive president Gulam Mohammed.

Political conspiracy: “Deviprasad was like a son of H D Deve Gowda, the national president of JDS. He was a voice of people. He stood against the corruption, atrocity and anti people policies. Hence a group who did not want his political upswing worked against him to prompt him to resign. “said Shalini Shetty Kenchanuru who is the district president of woman’s wing.

“We are with Deviprasad Shetty. He is an inspiration for us. He should change his decision,” said the district general secretary Srikanth Adiga Kollur.

Mass resignation: The state leaders have not shown much interest in building up the party in the district level. They did not support the district president. But we worked hard under Deviprasad Shetty for the party. If the problem is not solved now, we will all resign en masse.” said Balachandra Devadiga, district president of labour wing.

The office bearers decided in the meeting that if proper action is not taken, all office bearers will resign soon.
