Puttur: Villager held for attacking police constable

Puttur, Apr 18: A person from Jidekal in Chikkamudnoor village in the outskirts of the town was arrested on Friday April 17. He has been charged with assaulting a police constable from the town station here during the latter's visit to the house of the accused to collect information relating to a complaint.

Ummer Farooq from Jidekal has been accused of attacking the policeman. Ummer's mother-in-law had complained at the town station that Ummer Farooq beats up his wife on a daily basis. Constable of the station, Narayan, had been deputed to make enquiries and gather facts relating to the complaint. It is said that Ummer got wild and attacked the policeman.

The policemen, who have arrested Ummer, have registered a case against him.
