BJP MP Malviya prefers to 'todo' rather than 'jodo' of the Fevikwik ad

Daijiworld Media Network

Delhi, Apr 22: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Chintamani Malviya stood up in the Lok Sabha against a Fevikwik ad saying that the ad was an insult to the sacrifices made by Indian soldiers and that he wanted it banned for the same reason.

Mr Malviya also maintained that the ad was a blatant disrespect for the country and therefore the makers of the ad be arrested and tried by the Centre for treason. He said, "I request the government that the creator, writer and director of this ad be tried for treason."

The ad shows the meeting of an Indian and a Pakistani soldier at the Wagah border for the daily Wagah border ceremony of Lowering the flags. In the exaggerated salute between the two they lift their legs for a slightly extended amount of time during which the Indian soldier notices the torn sole of the shoe belonging to the Pakistani soldier. While a torn shoe is pretty much mundane, the fact that the sole if hanging out becomes a matter of national embarrassment when the ceremony is being witnessed by hundreds.

So the Indian soldier in the blink of an eye retracts a Fevikwik from his shirt pocket, dribbles the superglue on to the torn shoe and reseals it with the flip of his hands. The Pakistani soldier is grateful for the help. They salute and retrace their steps back to their respective countries. The advert ends with the tagline that puts the work of the glue stick in a nutshell saying don't break but join - "Todo nahin - jodo"
