Chamarajanagara, Apr 27: In a fit of rage, a woman killed her husband by hitting him with pestle. The incident occurred at Motadakeri street in Balepete in Yelandur town in the district.

The deceased is Nagaraju (40), a local. It was a common sight for neighbours to see this couple fighting with each other day in and day out. Five days back, Shashikala had gone to her parental home without getting prior permission from husband.

As soon as his wife, Shashikala, came back on Saturday, Nagaraju questioned her. Verbal duel soon gave rise to fistfight. Enraged by her husband's behaviour, Shashikala indiscriminately thrashed her husband, hit him with a pestle, and also kicked him in the groin.

Nagaraju died on the spot. Developing cold feet, Shashikala tried to flee from there but her neighbours caught hold of her and handed her to police.

A case of murder stands registered in Yelandur police station against Shashikala.
