Helena Christensen only buys 'ethically' made clothes

Los Angeles, May 4 (IANS): Model Helena Christensen says she is unnerved by the "mass production" of clothing and only wears well-made clothes and gives away items when she stops wearing them.

"I recycle everything in my life that I can - my mother has a second-hand shop in Copenhagen, so lots of our clothes go there. I need to buy ethically; mass production freaks me out," said Christensen.

The 46-year-old, who is also known as a fashion photographer in her own right, continued to say she is careful with her purchasing habits, as she always wants to be able to wear clothes multiple times because she only has a small wardrobe, femalefirst.co.uk.

"I don't have a lot of wardrobe space and I will only buy things that I know I am not just going to wear once or twice," she admitted.

This summer, Christensen will launch a three-year partnership with clothing company InWear and will release a jewellery collection with Danish company Skagen next month, but insists both will be small-scale because she doesn't want to be responsible for the over-production of clothing.

"I don't have a huge ambition to start something grand and contribute to mass production,"she told The Sunday Telegraph's Stella magazine.
