Mangaluru, May 6: A protest was organized by the BJP party on May 5 in front of the MUDA office demanding proper supply of water to Hosabettu, Kulai and surrounding areas in the city.

Addressing the protestors Ganesh Hosbettu, former mayor said, " For the past one month the people have been facing acute water shortage and drainage problems in various areas. There are many solid waste management issues in areas like Hosabettu, Kulai, Kuttathur etc. MP Nalin Kumar Kateel had already held a meeting one month back with the MSEZ officials and had issued clear instructions, but the officials have failed to act and people are facing problems on a daily basis. Further, the sewage treatment plant is also not operational."

The BJP leader and BJP corporator, Sudeer Shetty from Kannur said, " MP Nalin Kumar Kateel had given clear instructions to MUDA that there has to be proper supply of water, proper drains, roads, and street lights but the officials are not responding. We have gathered here to protest in order to symbolically show that if the officials do not wake up to this protest, we will organize a massive protest in front of the MCC and DC offices in the days to come," he warned.

Many men and women swarmed into the MUDA office with water containers and buckets raising slogans against the MSEZ officer to either act or vacate the chair.
