Bantwal: Sand lorries collide on NH 234 seriously injuring one

Bantwal, May 7: Two sand lorries collided on National Highway 234 at Vagga in Kavalapadooru grama on Wednesday May 6, seriously injuring one of the drivers.


A sand laden lorry was plying from B C Road to Kadoor while an empty lorry plying from the opposite direction hit it. The driver of the lorry plying towards Kadoor has been seriously injured in the accident. He has been rushed to a Mangaluru hospital for treatment. The other driver escaped with minor bruises. It is said that the seriously injureddriver hails from Kadoor. Further details are not available.

The road was blocked as both the lorries were stranded in the middle of the road. Vehicles were allowed to pass by the side of the road later. Local people said that over speeding of the sand laden lorry and the haste of the driver caused the accident. Police said that no complaint had been lodged in the traffic police station.
