Mangalore, Mar 25: Kaveri Horata Samiti president S P Chengappa on Friday alleged that the Railway authority in connivance with transport lobby was reluctant to introduce passenger trains between Mangalore and Bangalore.

He told media here on Friday that the Samiti would hold a Rail Rokho to pressurise the authority to meet their demands at Kankanady Railway Station on March 30 at 2.40 pm. “If the authority does not react to our demands within 30 days we will intensify protests,” he said.

He said the road between Mangalore and Bangalore was in a bad state and thus passenger trains should begin immediately. On the pathetic condition of Kankanady Railway Station, he lamented that the road connecting the station was very narrow and full of potholes.

He also urged Railway authority to separate Kankanady from Palakkad division and make it Mangalore Junction. He threatened to call a district bandh if their demands were not met.
