Udupi, Mar 25: An ape which has been causing problems to the locals, tourists in Manipal near here has finally been netted by the forest department staff.

An expert team led by Mysore Zoo Authority director Dr K A Nanjappa succeeded in catching the ape with the help of sedatives.  The ape was provided with immediate medical care once it was netted.  It was later sent to Mysore Zoo Authority for treatment.

As reported earlier an ape moving around in the Manipal vicinity had injured several persons in the last few days.  Most of them had sustained quite serious injuries and were even rushed to hospital.  Despite several complaints, forest department staff had failed to catch the ape.

But finally the ape was caught in a joint operation.  Kundapur division sub-forester N Rajshekhar, assistant forester Kishor Kumar, Udupi range forester Ramand S were also the part of the operation.
