Mangalore, Mar 27: In yet another heart-rending incident a mother and her ten-year-old son ended their life by laying their heads against the running train near Joyland Nursery at Kolya here on Monday March 26 morning.
The deceased have been identified as Pushpa (38) and her son Manish (10), resident of Pilar near Someshwar here.
Pushpa's husband Sadashiv was a driver by profession and was working in Mumbai. However, he passed way in a tragic accident a year ago. His death came as a big jolt to the family and Pushpa had to run from pillar to post to get the insurance benefits of her husband. But despite all the efforts, insurance benefits of Sadashiv were never given to Pushpa.
This made her life difficult since she too did not have a proper and regular work. Of recent she was finding it difficult even to get a square meal for herself and her son. Distressed by sudden death of her husband and plagued by financial crunch, she ended her life along with her son on Monday morning.
The railway police have registered a case in this regard.
