Mangalore, Mar 27: Credit plan for the district was launched with an outlay of Rs 2,311 crore for the year 2007-08 was launched a special meeting held at ZP here on Tuesday March 27. The credit plan was launched by deputy commissioner M Maheshwar Rao.
Speaking on the occasion Rao said that Dakshina Kannada district has enormous potentials in the field of economy which if properly tapped could become very beneficial not only to the district but even to the country at large. "The district has a unique and special economic shape which differs from other districts," he added.
As per the plan, the current year has 26% more outlay than the last year. The priority sector outlay of Rs 1611.61 crore constitutes over 70% of the plan. The agriculture sector with a total outlay of Rs 608.81 crore constitutes 26% of the plan.
The credit plan has been prepared by lead district office of Syndicate bank by consolidating branch credit plan of various branches of 46 banks currently operating in Dakshina Kannada.
