Sullia, Mar 29: A 26-year-old young man was stabbed to death over a trivial matter at Kallagundi-Sampaje near here on Thursday March 29 morning.
The murdered man has been identified as Sitaram Acharya Sampaje (26) while one of the murderers has been identified as Shashi Kallugundi. The other accused is yet to be identified.
Both Sitaram and Shashi had fought with each other over a small issue during the day-long religious ritual of Lord Vishnu which was held at Kallugundi on Wednesday. The fight had reached extremes with both involving in physical assault.
On Thursday morning Sitaram had gone to his house to fetch some necessary things for the religious ritual. It was durnig this time that he was stabbed by Shashi and the other person. After stabbing him, the murderers also smashed his head with a stone.
Though Sitaram was rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to the injuries half the way. Autopsy was conducted in Sullia primary health centre. Sources said that personal rivalry could be reason behind murder.
