Udupi, May 18: Chikmangaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje held a press meet on Monday May 18 regarding village panchayat election preparation at town BJP office here.

Addressing the press meet, MP Shobha said, “BJP has taken village panchayat elections very seriously. Selection of candidate is very crucial and BJP is appointing leaders everywhere to take charge of election process”.

She has already visited Gouribidanur, Chikmangaluru, Shankeshwar, Belur, Kadur, Tarikere and will be visiting Udupi and Karkala. BJP activists were strengthening the party through village panchayat elections.

She also informed that Union minister for law and justice, D V Sadananda Gowda will participate in the election campaign on May 22 in some parts of the Udupi and Karkala. Former Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa will visit Byndoor and Kundapur on May 20 to speak to party workers.

She further said that this year women candidates will have lots of opportunity to prove their calibre during panchayat elections.

Coming down heavily on the present Karnataka government, she said that the two years of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah government have not brought any significant development works. “The Congress party is dominant in two states Karnataka and Assam. These states have not gained anything in the last two years”.

Regarding the Annabhagya Yojana, she insisted to re examine the supply area and distribute the groceries by understanding their food habits. “Shadibhagya and Ksheerabhagya have failed to meet their targets. Shadibhagya increases the gap between castes. Bhagyalaxmi Yojana has come down comparatively from 3.5 Lac to one lac”, she opined.

“What has CM done for Ahinda and what reformation has he brought for them? Is Ahinda just for vote bank or development?” she questioned further.

Basav Vasati Yojana has failed to be implemented in MP Shobha’s constituency, she said.

On PM Modi’s China tour, she said, “CM Siddaramaiah did not go to China even though he was invited by the Chinese president. Siddaramaiah took the Chinese visit as a rivalry between BJP and Congress and not as PM and CM relationship. Modi had signed to employment generation agreement even in the CM’s absence which include Bengaluru and Tumkur district”.
