Mangalore, Apr 4: Students who answered SSLC examinations a week ago might be enjoying the vacation, but their teachers are busy taking to streets in protest against increase in evaluation papers.

On Tuesday April 3, teachers who have been appointed to evaluate SSLC Mathematics answer papers staged a protest in front of the city’s Canara High School against the order to correct more number of papers in a week's time.

The teachers had been initially asked evaluate 160 papers in eight days but now the number of answer sheets has been increased to 176 but the time limit remains the same, the teachers said.

They urged the government to extend the evaluation period by one day and demanded dearness allowance for the same.

They also opposed the government’s decision to send teachers to different districts to evaluate. MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik was present.
