Beltangady, Apr 8: Former taluk president of Congress Balakrishna Gowda and district Congress secretary B S Mukunda Suvarna have issued a statement opposing the entry of former MLA Vasant Bangera into the Congress party.
Bangera, who has been expelled by the JD{S) for anti-party activities, would be more of a liability than an asset, if he were to join Congress, they have opined.
They have also alleged that over the past 30 years of his political life, Bangera had only opposed and harassed the Congress workers. Having realized that there was no scope for him other than Congress, Bangera had been knocking at the party's door, they said.
They would oppose his entry into the Congress party at any cost, they further said.
