Dubai: ‘FAMAD Dance Challenge 2007’ a unique competition for couples

Dubai, April 10: For the talented dancers, here is a great platform to show their skills and win some big prizes. Dubai will host the lifetime dance competition for Kannada, Tulu and Konkani speaking people.
‘FAMAD Dance Challenge 2007’ will indeed be the glorious event of the year, which will stage a dance competition for couples. “This competition is open for all Kannada / Tulu / Konkani speaking couples of 16 and above”, Dony Correa, the organiser for the event told Daijiworld Dubai correspondent.
“It will be a highly professional dance competition with excellent entertainment for the crowd”, the cultural coordinator for Famad Pernal told us. He also declared that Pokri Pernal, the cultural wing for the organisation will perform a Tulu family drama called ‘Aapini Poora Eddege’, which will feature some of the well-known actors from the organisation.
Grand prizes:
The event will be held on 18 May during the grand anniversary celebrations at the Emirates English-Speaking School Auditorium, Jumeira and there will be some fantastic cash prizes to be won. The winning team will get the following prizes:
1. Winners: Dhs. 3,003.00 plus trophy.
2. First Runners-up: Dhs. 2,002.00 plus trophy .
3. Second Runners-up: Dhs. 1,001.00 plus trophy.

Some of the main rules of the competition are as follows:
• This competition is open for all Konkani / Tulu / Kannada speaking people. Eligibility will be based on place of birth and/or language spoken.
• Only Konkani, Tulu and Kannada songs can be selected which should be provided in audio CD or in mp3 / wav format. Audio tapes are also accepted.
• Your performance song should be the only thing on your CD / tape.
• Both partners should be over 16 years of age. The dance couple must be comprised of male and female partners. Both should be actively involved in the competition. No statue posture allowed.
• One person can participate in one contest only.
• An entry fee of Dh100 (non refundable) should be paid in advance along with copies of passports of both contestants. Both participants will be given free passes.
• Participants must take prior permission (if required) from the artist or producer of the music album in order to perform. For any clarification, please contact the organisers.
• Song should not be longer than 6 minutes.
• Song should be provided on or before 30 April. Contestants may be asked to change their choice in case of repetition of a song.
• Each participant will be given two minutes time for preparation.
• Fire, water and any dangerous equipment cannot be used without prior permission.
• In case of more than 12 entries, elimination rounds will be conducted on 11 May. All participants should avail themselves for a full day (11.00 am to 6.00 pm).
• Any valid original identity card issued by any government authority (such as driving licence, work permit or passport) which bears a photograph should be accompanied and produced at any time of the competition including during prelims.
• Competitors should report to the organisers at least half hour prior to the start of a competition, and be in the green room at least fifteen minutes before their performance. Only official team members will be allowed in the dressing area.
• All choreography must be suitable for family viewing. No obscene, vulgar, anti-religious language, posture or dress can be used. If such an incident is encountered, the organisers reserve the right to stop the performance immediately.
About the event:
The event is a part of the fifth anniversary celebrations of Famad Pernal (Pernal Zamath) and there will be loads of other entertainment events including a Tulu play 'Aapini Poora Eddege' by versatile actors from Pokri Pernal, the cultural wing of the association.
