Mangaluru: Man held for trying to sell ganja in city

Mangaluru, May 29: The policemen of Coastal Security Police Force (CSPF) arrested T M alias Sooryakumar (34), a resident of Monkey Stand near Mangaladevi in the city, when he was trying to sell ganja. Sooryakumar, it is learnt, had kept ganja in his auto rickshaw and was making efforts to sell ganja to willing customers opposite New Mangalore Port Trust guest house at Tannirbavi near Panambur on Thursday May 28.

800 grams of ganja valued at about Rs 16,000, Rs 500 in cash, and an auto rickshaw valued at Rs 1,50,000 were confiscated from the accused.

Inspector of CSPF, Y Gangi Reddy, led the raid, supported by several police personnel. The accused was produced in the third JMFC court here, upon which he was remanded to two weeks judicial custody.

The policemen said that Sooryakumar already faces several cases of murder, murderous assault and offences under Arms Act in different police stations.
