New Delhi, Apr 28: The Delhi Police on Friday said the arrest of three LeT terrorists from Dilli Haat last evening foiled a major bid by the terrorist outfit to carry out blasts in Delhi.

"Abu Kasim from Pakistan, who was arrested from Dilli Haat yesterday, is a LeT mastermind who was to carry out blasts in Delhi on instructions from top LeT commander Abu Alkama based in Kashmir,''Joint Commissioner Special Cell, Karnal Singh told mediapersons here.

He, however, said the police were not aware of specific targets of the LeT ultras in Delhi as instructions in this regard were to be recieved by the ultras from Abu Alkama.

A huge quantity of ammunition, including two Kg RDX, three detonators, one timer and two hand grenades were recovered from Abdul Kasim, Shafaqat and Shabbir who were arrested by a team of the Delhi police Special cell from near Dilli Haat at 1900 hours yesterday.

Mr Singh said based on information about the operation of a terrorist module and that the suspected terrorists were to meet at Dilli Haat yesterday, the team took positions in the area.

Interrogation of the three terrorists revealed that on instructions of Abu Alkama, Shabbir and Shafaqat, both of whom are residents of Doda area in Jammu and Kashmir, were to deliver the ammunition to Kasim, who was to then affect the blasts.

Accordingly, Shabbir and Shafaqat took a bus from Doda and reached Delhi last evening with the ammunition which they had come to deliver to Kasim when the police arrested them.

"Police are on a lookout for the hideouts of the terrorists in Delhi from where Kasim was to operate. Also, we are in search of other terrorists involved in the plan, ''Mr Singh said, he added.

The police was working to get more information on the plan through interrogation of the arrested ultras.

Following the arrest of the terrorists, security across the Capital had been beefed up.
