Sushma Swaraj meets Nepal President

Kathmandu, June 25 (IANS): Visiting Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has met Nepal President Ram Baran Yadav at his residence on Thursday and discussed bilateral ties.

In times of distress, the nearest neighbour helps first, relatives and friends come later, said Sushma Swaraj during her meeting with President Yadav.

During the meeting, the Nepal President expressed gratitude for India's swift and quick response following the devastating April 25 earthquake.

With the announcement of $1 billion loan and grant for Nepal's reconstruction, India is the largest donor pledging the support for the post-quake recovery.

With this announcement, India has pledged $2 billion to Nepal in the last one year -- the single biggest aid to Nepal.

Sushma Swaraj arrived in Kathmandu on Wednesday to participate in the International Conference on Nepal's Reconstruction-2015.

In her address, she announced NPR 10,000 crore ($1 billion) for Nepal's post-earthquake reconstruction.
