Bengaluru, Jul 7: Without challenges or dreams, there is no future, said Bangalore Archbishop Dr Bernard Moras while addressing the 2015-16 batch of the Career Advancement Programme organised by the Karnataka Regional Organization for Social Service (KROSS) in Bengaluru on Monday.

One can reach greater heights and achieve big things by confronting challenges head on and dreaming big, the Archbishop said in his presidential address at the inaugural function of the 11th batch of the KROSS Career Advancement Programme.

The Archbishop said everything negative has to be eliminated to be good leaders. ''Make use of the opportunities, obey the norms and commands of the Church and be sincere in all dealings besides committing to the cause entrusted and serving the people of all castes and communities with diligence while discouraging corruption are of utmost importance," he added.

Sibichem Mathew, IRS, Advisor-TRAI, who inaugurated the Programme said the candidates must study hard and be ethical in life. Remuneration and perks may be high in the private sector but those wishing to serve society and improve the lot of the people must take up assignment in public sector as a challenge, he said.

Robinson D’souza, former Law Secretary of the State Government, said all youngsters should have dreams and not fear. Self- belief can conquer and overcome all odds, he said.

Joylin Fernandes and Avil D’Souza, students of the previous Career Advancement Batch, shared their experience and explained how they had developed leadership qualities through this coaching.

Fr Sebastian Fernandes, Director KROSS, welcomed the gathering, Chris L Bernard, Programme Officer, CAP, presented a brief report, Sr Nancy Lobo, Programme Officer, WEP, compered the programme and Clement Fernandes, Manager - Program Support, proposed the vote of thanks.

"Obeying the norms and the commands of the Church" are the nine precious words that strike me the most as we read this article on Career Development Program.

In a country such as India with growing population, more than two million Graduates come out of our Colleges and Universities. Their main focus as they receive their Diplomas or Degrees is to seek a possible career opportunity and get involved with any job that will enable them to earn their daily bread which they can share with their respective families. This is the core objective and a dream of a Graduate who earns a precious document that enables him or her to feel that they have earned a Degree. This is the biggest challenge and also a dream of every student to achieve that Degree in order to enable themselves to enjoy a gainful employment. But how to aspire the individual goals when the job opportunities are scarce not only within India but all over the world. UNEMPLOYMENT is one single fear that each and everyone possess in their mind and in their hearts. ECONOMY therefore is of a paramount importance that each one has to focus, specially in India.

Our Colleges and Universities in India have to therefore render their support to our State and Federal Governments in seeking suitable ways and means to boost our Economy. Vocational Training Programs are therefore essential so that Human Resources are properly utilized in India and that the people appreciate the value of the "DIGNITY OF LABOR".

Our immediate challenges and dreams towards career developments should therefore be focused in educating people to take up the right Educational disciplines so that we do not flood ourselves in areas where there are abundance of human resources and there are many areas we are extremely short of labor. "DIGNITY OF LABOR" is the key. People should accept whatever challenges that they confront with and whatever profession that they can get attached with so that they earn their daily bread with dignity.

KRCBC's role in motivating our youth is laudable. KROSS taking upon itself the onus for coaching the youth is very encouraging. Lets hope the program being nurtured bears fruit soon. Congrats to Fr. Sebastian & Team.

    Exactly,
Without challenges or dreams, there is future.

In fact, we will have to continue to carry and move the bullockcart on wheels for the rest of our lives, as we have been doing since a couple of centuries.

Even during the ancient civilization the people used the bulls to pull the cart.
But today, in the 21st century, during the age of advanced mobile technology, with proud and arrogance, we are carrying and moving both bull (vehicle engine) and the cart (commuters and goods) on wheels.

As A result our economy is burning due to expensive fuel imports, society is suffering sky high costs and the environment is suffering with unhealthy pollutions.

As we have been carrying and moving massive weight on wheels for thousands of miles, every day, if we use this huge burden as a powerful pushing force we can a considerable volume of free and clean energy.

Let's think different and implement change to make a World of Difference.

A simple concept change can give us incredible solutions and amazing benefits.

Let's dream big and become a Developed Nation, as our mission is to be the salt of the earth and light of the world.
