ROME, May 12: Third seeded Indo-Czech pair of Leander Paes and Martin Damm stormed into the semifinals of Rome Masters tennis championship with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Romanian Andrei Pavel and his German partner Alexander Waske.
Paes and Damm will take on the sixth seeded French-Serbian duo of Fabrice Santoro and Nenad Zimonjic in the last four stage.
In a lop-sided encounter, Paes and Damm hardly put a foot wrong against their eighth seeded rivals for the thumping win.
Paes and Damm were in sublime form and pounced on any error committed by their opponents from the very start. The third seeds held their serve throughout and broke Pavel and Waske thrice in the contest, which hardly tested them.
The Indo-Czech pair took little over an hour to seal the issue in its favour to sail into the last four stages.
This was the first match played by the third seeds in the Euro 2,082,500 tournament after getting walkovers in the first round and the pre-quarterfinals.
