Amy Schumer blasted for 'inappropriate' 'Star Wars' shoot

Los Angeles, July 19 (IANS): Stand-up comedian Amy Schumer has been criticised for her "inappropriate" “Star Wars” GQ shoot.

The 34-year-old comic posed for a sexy shoot for the magazine that included a photograph of her naked in bed with classic characters R2-D2 and C-3PO, but a message on the official “Star Wars” Twitter feed insisted the spread was not approved, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

When a Twitter user RogueKnite wrote, "I love @AmySchumer & her comedy routine(s). But this GQ #StarWars spread is just in poor taste", a reply on the official “Star Wars” Twitter handle said: "Lucasfilm & Disney did not approve, participate in or condone the inappropriate use of our characters in this manner."

The cover shows Schumer suggestively sucking C-3PO's finger while inside the magazine an image shows her dancing with stormtroopers. She also dressed up as the movie's character Princess Leia for the spread.

"I'm not the skinniest or prettiest girl. But who cares? I feel sexy and beautiful. I'm single, but never struggle for suitors,” she explained.

"I don't mean to sound cocky, but I like myself, I'm proud of myself and people respond to that.”
