Mumbai, May 24: Fr Hubert Goveas, hitherto, the parish priest of St Jude's Church Jeri Meri who has now been transferred to Mulund was given a warm send-off by Konkani buffs here on Tuesday May 23 evening.

A formal function was held in the auditorium of Hotel Natural at Tilaknagar near Sakinaka.

Sr Philomena Fernandes, Sr Mira Carvalho and noted Konkani activist Lawrence D'Souza Taccode, Maharashtra Konkan Association (MKA) founder president Leo Fernandes were also present on the dais.

MKA immediate-past president Walter D'Souza Jeri Meri honoured Fr Hubert Goveas.  Robert Mascarenhas, John Veigas, Joseph D'Souza and Marcene Miranda presented the guests with flowers.  Leo Fernandes welcomed the gathering and compered the programme.

John Furtado of Konkan Taram, Federation of Maharashtra's Canara Catholic Association animator Harry R Sequeira and Anthony D'Almeida were also present on the occasion.
