Mangaluru, Jul 26: Suratkal police on Saturday have rearrested a person who escaped from them on Thursday on way to the jail.

Suresh K Gowda from Ramanagara is the person who the police apprehended within two days.

Suresh was accused of raping a minor, and he was arrested by Suratkal police at Haleyangady on Thursday. He succeeded in giving the police a slip and ran away on the same day after he was produced in the residence of a judge at Cosmos Lane at Kadri Kambla. When being taken to jail thereafter, he succeeded in hoodwinking the policemen and fleeing.

The police immediately conveyed information about the incident to all the police stations in city about the escape of Suresh. They also launched a drive with the Panambur ACP Madangaokar making a special team to nab Suresh. The police team managed to find out that Suresh had reached Mysuru to see his best friend. They caught him at a lodge while he was about to enter it. It is said that Suresh had stayed there previously also.

Later it was revealed that Suresh slept at the Mangaluru railway station on Thursday and then on Friday went by train to Mysuru without ticket.

Suresh had raped a minor daughter of the owner of the firm for which he worked. The girl's father had lodged a complaint in this regard in Suratkal station.

The girl's father, who happens to be a native of Ramanagara and presently doing contract work of laying interlocks, currently resides near the railway bridge at Chelairu near Suratkal. Suresh used to work as writer under him. When the father of the girl was on visit to different places on work, Suresh used to stay at his residence with his wife and daughter. Using this opportunity, he reportedly came close to the minor daughter of his employer and raped her repeatedly during the last three months. After he learned that the minor girl became pregnant, he had run away.

Suresh now faces additional charges of attacking police personnel on duty and for escaping from the police.
