Dhaka, May 28: An innings and 239-run win over Bangladesh in the second Test here Sunday was India's biggest ever in 404 matches since their debut against England at the Lord's, London, in 1932.
India's previous biggest Test win was by an innings and 219 runs over Mark Taylor's Australia in Calcutta (now Kolkata) in 1998.
India have now played 404 Tests, won 89, lost 131 and drawn 183. One Test, against Australia in Madras (now Chennai) in 1986, ended in a 'tie'.
Sunday's achievement also marked India's sixth win inside three days of a Test match. The previous such win was by 49 runs over the West Indies at Kingston, Jamaica, last year.
In India's only innings of the match, the top four batsmen had smashed centuries to set a record unparalleled in 130 years of Test cricket.
The centurions were Wasim Jaffer (138 retired ill), captain Rahul Dravid (129), Dinesh Karthik (129) and Sachin Tendulkar (122 not out).
It was the fifth Test between the two countries, and India have won four of them. The first match of this series in Chittagong had ended in a draw due to rain.
