Dubai, May 29: Kevin Pietersen's maiden double century against the West Indies has catapulted the English batsman to an elite club of Test batsmen who have earned more than 900 rating points in the LG ICC Test players' rankings.
Pietersen became 21st batsman of all time to pass the 900-point mark in rankings to join, among others, Don Bradman in the elite league.
In all, there have been 2,486 people who have played Test cricket and this achievement puts Pietersen in the top one per cent of all time, an ICC statement said on Tuesday.
At the same time, Pietersen stays second, behind Bradman, in the list of highest run-scorers in the first 25 Tests.
Pietersen has scored 2,448 runs at an average of 54.40. He has scored eight centuries and nine half-centuries in just 47 innings.
Bradman compiled 3,194 runs in his first 25 matches at an average of 91.25 scoring 13 centuries and five fifties.
Pietersen occupies third position in the LG ICC Player Rankings for Test batsmen, led by Australian skipper Ricky Ponting.
