Bangalore/Bangkok, May 31: Shopoholics of Bangalore, here is a good news for you. You may be spending your weekends soon in Siam Paragon. But not in the shopping mall in Bangkok but,in Bangalore. The City may get a Siam Paragon-like, which is billed as Asia’s largest shopping mall, shopping centre in Bangalore.

If every thing goes well, it may soon be a reality. A number of private builders from Bangalore are presently holding talkswith Siam Paragon Development Co Ltd, Bangkok, to strike a partnership deal to build a mega shopping mall, on the lines of Siam Paragon,in Bangalore.

“They (private builders) are talking to us...Offers are there...It may happen in future,” Supaluck Umpujh, Vice Chairman of Siam Paragon Development Co Ltd told Deccan Herald .

Siam Paragon is a jointventure between Siam Piwat and the Mall Group,with 50:50 equity co-operation. If the company decides not to enter the Indian retail market, it may help other players by giving the know-how, Mr Umpujh added. He said Bangalore has immense potential andthe spending capacity,especially among the youth, is growing. “In fact, 25 to 30 per cent of those shop at Siam Paragon, Bangkok, are Indians,”he said.

He, however, refused todivulge more details regarding the Bangalore project.Built at the cost of $ 375 million covering 5,00,000 sq meter land, Siam Paragonoffers over 250 international and local brand names under one roof. This megacomplex also features a departmental store, edutainment centre, exploration centre and food courts of all international varieties. It will also house Asias largest aquarium worth $ 25 million. The shopping complex offers a range of international brands in all facets of fashion, jewellry, watches, arts, handicraft, digital technology, luxurygoods, fine dining and entertainment.
